The Royal Army, sometimes colloquially known as the Queen's Men, is composed of the rank and file soldierly that makes up the vast majority of the Lordaeron's armed forces. Since the coronation of Viscountess Madelynne Albrecht as Queen of Lordaeron, the Royal Army has faithfully served to defend Blackmarsh and has formed the vanguard of the nation's efforts to reclaim the entirety of Lordaeron. It is the backbone of Queen Madelynne I's combined armed forces and is often the force called upon to take the brunt of any engagement on the field of battle.

Though formerly led by Jeremaes Edrickton and Waltyr Heartvale as High Generals, the position was eventually absorbed into the mantle of Lord-Marshal by King Prestor

Hierarchy[]

High Command[]

  1. Lord-Marshal: This rank determines the overall structure of the army, appointing those that come directly beneath him and at times further offering promotions to those of exceptional ability.
  2. General: This rank denotes the second highest non-royal rank among the Royal Army.  It is attainable only by those that have proven themselves both capable and courageous in battle for several campaigns.  They are generally placed in command of five commanders.
  3. Commander: This is a rank reserved primarily for nobles that have proven themselves in combat or command.  Commanders are normally on the field and generally put into practice the strategies and plans developed by their general.  There are generally five captains to a commander.
  4. Captain: This rank is the initial rank for a noble within the Royal Army.  Although a commission can be purchased by a member of lower birth, it is extremely expensive.  Captains generally inform knight captains where they are expected to be, and assist them in coordinating with other groups. There are generally five knight-captains to a captain.

Commissioned Officers[]

  1. Knight Captain: A knight captain is a knight that has proven himself capable and is a veteran in battle.  He is a frontline presence, leading his men through the maneuvers handed down by high command.  Knight captains are expected to be resourceful and quick, capable of filling a void in command if one should present itself. Generally, five knights are assigned to a captain.
  2. Knight: A knight is an elite fighting force within the army, who has trained countless years to be one of the best combatants on the field.  Knights must have a horse and provide for their own equipment.  They are generally in command of a group of enlisted personnel that see to their needs in combat.  There is normally only one sergeant assigned to a knight.

Enlisted Personnel[]

  1. Sergeant: The highest rank for a footman, the sergeant is a veteran of combat that leads his men where he is told to go.  He is often assigned to a knight, acting as his aide in many things and ensuring that his men are prepared for combat.  Sergeants can also function alone and may hold posts of importance at base camps.
  2. Armsman: Footmen are promoted to this once they show that they no longer require aid.  They are trusted with their knight’s weaponry and are expected to be able to wield their own fairly well.  An armsman is also expected to ensure that footmen do not get out of line.
  3. Footman: New recruits, often militia or light infantry that make up the bulk of most military forces.

Specialists[]

  1. Specialists: These are persons who fall outside the normal hierarchy of the Royal Army and who often operate independently of all but the highest levels of command.
