He is temperate in his eating habits and tends to spend his idle time eithe reading scriptures or training in the yard with his sword. He can often be seen in platemail armor wearing scarlet clad armor. He favors an arming sword and shield rather than a greatsword in combat.

Personality[]

Rakanis is a quiet, pensive individual. Some might describe him as shy, but those that know him a bit more would describe him as only speaking when he feels something needs to be said. He strictly follows the tenets of the Holy Light. WIP

History[]

Childhood[]

Rakanis Dawes was born to a small family of merchants and blacksmiths. His father, Rufus Dawes, was a blacksmith and swordsman of some talent. His mother was a teacher in a nearby school. Rakanis grew up an only child, but had several cousins he was close with.

Rakanis received a good education in logic, mathematics, reading, and writing. From the moment he began to read, he was taken to the scriptures of the Holy Light and his father stories were the knights of yore. As he grew into his pre-teen years, his father took him on as an apprentice blacksmith and began training him with the sword. This did not stop him from regularly attending the sermons of the Church.

The Second War[]

During his teenage years, he and his father answered the call to arms of Lordaeron. Rakanis squired for his father in battle, but the Dawes were never put into harm's way typically. After the Second War ended, Rakanis was sent to the Order of the Silver Hand to become a Paladin. He became a patriot of Lordaeron and of Blackmarsh during this period. After becoming a full-fledged knight of the Silver Hand, he married a local woman and at some point had a son, to which he named after his father.

The Fall of Lordaeron[]

Rakanis served Lordaeron with some distinction during the period between the Second and Third War. He became a Knight-Lieutenant within the Order of the Silver Hand and even took on several squires. He followed Uther into battle when they rode to save Prince Arthas near Hearthglen. After Arthas killed his father, he joined the Remnants of Lordaeron led by Grand Marshal Garithos.

Rakanis managed to save his wife and son for a time by joining the Scarlet Crusade. Unfortunately, his wife died due to a chill. He allowed his son to be educated by the chaplains of the Scarlet Crusade while he was often away fighting against the Scourge and Forsaken.

For a time, he joined the cavalry regiment led by Knight-Champion Alekander Andro, the Count of Ravenwood. He made friends with many of the men there, such as Ryordan Landis and Erren Clarke. He wrote his story and the story of his father in a book that the cavalry regiment kept known as The Tome of the Righteous. In it, he laments that he was not able to save his wife from such a disease that could have been cured. He went on further to say that while he believes in the Scarlet Crusade's cause, he believes them to be too extreme in some of their ways.

He and his son eventually left the Scarlet Crusade to join the Argent Crusade.
