ue to the amount of merchant traffic needing to cross. The keep had formerly been known for its imposing three spires, all of which stood over a hundred feet in height. Its impressive fortifications, coupled with the colossal towers and its position on the river made the keep extraordinarily difficult to siege.

Riverspire's ultimate fall came at the height of the Third War. As the Scourge laid siege to its walls, Cult of the Damned summoners brought down an Infernal on top of the castle. The impact of the meteor killed the vast majority of its defenders instantly and reduced the fortress to little more than a smoldering crater, the once towering spires now scarcely having one stone atop another. The eastern portion of the bridge collapsed as well, thus cutting off easy access from River's Eye to Blackmarsh.

Shortly after, the Forsaken assumed control of the ruins and begun rebuilding it to serve as an outpost near Blackmarsh's border. Thankfully, the Forsaken were eventually dislodged from the ruins of the fortress during the River's Eye Campaign lead by Lord Viktor Romel.

The castle currently resides under the stewardship of the Lord Romel is is garrisoned by a contingent of the Queen's Gilnean Legion.
