The House of Trueflame is a noble house of Lordaeron. Their family seat is Hightower. In the centuries before the rise of the Albrechts, the Trueflames enjoyed uncontested supremacy within the region of greater Blackmarsh. Their founder was the storied warrior Darron I Trueflame; also known as Darron Dawnstar, he is reputed to have first brought the knightly traditions of Stormwind in the south to the northern wilds of Lordaeron. Hightower's primacy was undone by Lord-Warden Ulfric Trueflame's costly expedition against the forest trolls of Aman, some two and a half centuries before the opening of the Dark Portal.
Though no longer the mightiest power in the region, the House of Trueflame enjoys position amongst the greatest houses of Blackmarsh. Their pedigree is unmatched save by the newly-crowned royal blood of Blackwatch, and in ages past from the halls of Hightower have come numerous sagely statesmen and mighty heroes. Arthur Trueflame first cleared the waters of Ebontide of errant Hopesfire corsairs, and Ocatto Trueflame served as the right hand of Terenas I Menethil.
In recent years the fortunes of the Trueflames have reached their lowest ebb; Darron Trueflame, much celebrated son of then-Grand Duke Henry IV, died during the Third War, as did much of the extended family. Just prior to the War of Light, Henry was then murdered by his second son, Owynn, leaving the fate of the house in much doubt until Owynn's son Caerwynn was recovered by The Queen.
Unique to the House of Trueflame is their style: the head of house is ennobled Lord-Warden of Hightower, and the heir-apparent styled the far more brazen Prince of Hightower, an honor that none have dared seek to wrest from the heirs of the Dawnstar. The Lord-Warden also holds the title of Grand Duke of Highpass.
The seat of the Trueflames is Hightower, and their words are "Without Compare." An unofficial motto is, "Hightower Stands Alone."
