House of Clatter was a noble family of Lordaeron. Their seat was Norveau's Plateau, the largest castle in Everbright. They were for a very long time the most prominent power in Everbright, but eventually met their end in the Third War.

Their sigil is a white star above a golden bell in a red background. The motto, Fierce and Loud, represents their forward thinking and expansionist tendencies.

Origins[]

House of Clatter was not an original family during the foundation of Everbright as a nation. Their origins are unclear, but historians speculate former knights under House of Stokeswood , unhappy with the direction their lord was taking the realm, abandoned his cause and journeyed south, to a part of the territory still very much unexplored.

There, they met a group of common folk, whom had been expelled by the circumstances from the Highlands. These were the final days of the Arathorian empire.

The first man to call himself Lord was Odilon Clatter, assumed to be the first Master of the Plateau.

Controversy[]

Many claim that the Clatters were the result of outlaws who had been ousted from northern Everbright by the Stokeswoods. However, there is no historical basis for such affirmation, and it is very likely this rumour was propagated by unhappy members of the House of Stokeswood .

Rise to power[]

From their birth, all Clatters were taught that dominance of Everbright was their right. It is not certain how such doctrine first rose up, but it has definitely played a pivotal role in their policies. Every member of the family that took the position of head of the House focused heavily on expansion, military strength and new techniques.

At the same time, there was a culture within the household that dictated a lord cannot play his hand too soon. For decades, perhaps centuries, the Clatters watched as their power grew, while the Stokeswoods rested on their laurels and became weak.

During the lordship of Vicent Clatter, House of Stokeswood was at its lowest point. Stagnant, relying heavily on tradition, they were a shadow of its former strength. The Master of the Plateau decided it was time to act and successfully baited Willhelm Stokeswood into war.

After a long conflict, Lord Vicent arose victorious, though at heavy losses. The Treaty of Bridgebarrow confirmed House of Clatter as the dominant force in Everbright.

Fall in the Third War[]

House of Clatter continued to rule uncontested Everbright for many centuries. Despite a few succession crises, the relation between Stokeswoods and Clatters was a friendly one.

Nevertheless, everything changed during the Third War. The Scourge war machine eventually reached Everbright with all its unyielding might.

With Capital City already in ruins, their kingdom shattered, the lords of Everbright banded together to fight the undead. At the head of its effort were Lord Simon Clatter, who commanded his House's, greater host, while Lord Alexander Stokeswood had the lead of the secondary army.

Yet, in spite of this union, they were not able to fend off the damned. In a last stand in the Plateau, Simon fell in battle. He was the last male member of his line, while Lady Julia, his sister, was married to Williert Stokeswood.
